ChartVault® - Comprising Your Legal EHR.

ChartVault is the engine behind the eWebHealth Suite of applications. It is a hosted repository housed in a highly secure data center supported by fully redundant security protocols and failover systems. ChartVault was built from the ground up on Internet technology, not migrated from legacy systems. This design approach achieves usability, performance, security and availability far beyond what is possible by “Web-enabling” an existing installed application.

ChartVault accepts feeds from a variety of clinical and billing electronic systems (such as Meditech, Siemens, McKesson, Cerner, IDX, and others) using HL-7 messages, file-based interfaces (COLD), XML feeds, standard transcription interfaces or custom interfaces developed by our implementation team. Hospitals can also easily scan paper documents into the system — thus creating a complete, electronic medical record housed in one place that is easily accessible by authorized users. A robust database design ensures that images are tied directly to the users who are authorized to view them.

Using a .NET platform, ChartVault allows for dynamic workflows, such as record selection, viewing, messaging, and collaboration which are tailored to help create optimal functionality, and also offers flexible reporting options.
Ensuring uninterrupted availability is a top concern when moving to electronic records. eWebHealth employs communication and network redundancy, hardware redundancy, extensive use of high-availability server clustering, software redundancy and site redundancy to help assure ChartVault’s optimal performance.

Our Data Center
Meeting or exceeding HIPAA guidelines for security, the eWebHealth Data Center helps us ensure high availability, reliability and security for our customers. It is physically protected by redundant security protocols and failover systems. Both picture ID badges and fingerprint scanning are necessary to access the buildings, which are protected by 24 hour security as well as indoor and outdoor facility cameras.

eWebHealth also has failover sites that exist on a separate national power grid to help ensure minimal to no loss of operation in the event of a disaster. Electronic intruders are stopped by redundant firewalls at the data center and encrypted images in transit to the data center. Once a document is fed into the system, it is immediately encrypted with AES 256-bit encryption and transmitted to our data center using an HTTPS connection. Access is strictly protected by dual firewall barriers:

  • The first firewall allows only SSL-secured connections accompanied by a valid certificate. The hospital
issues certificates to its authorized users, and no one else can see the system log-in screens
  • An additional firewall layer prevents any unauthorized access to the database servers. This barrier allows database server access only to eWebHealth application servers, and even then, only with a valid key
  • As part of our operating procedures we conduct frequent and extensive, third-party intrusion and
    penetration testing

In all, we have years of experience and proven ability to keep our customer’s patient data secure and in compliance with federal and state regulations in a system that is affordable, and requires no new capital, no new software, no new hardware, no new space and no new support people on the part of our customers to operate it.
